If you'd like to forward a domain address that you have to a different domain name or subdomain, one way to do that would be to use a CNAME record. By creating such a record, the domain address being forwarded loses all its records (A, MX, and so forth) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain name it's pointed to. That way, if you use a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be forwarded to the website which you have created, but it will also appear in the browser address bar at all times. Alternative possible uses of a CNAME record are to direct all of the visitors from various subdomains to their main domain, or to use the webmail service of your hosting provider by using webmail.your-doman.com, for instance. The latter will work only by setting up a CNAME record for a subdomain since this kind of a record set up for the main domain address renders it impossible to use email addresses.

CNAME Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which we offer with each and every Linux cloud hosting plan, allows you to set up CNAME records for every single domain name or subdomain hosted within the account with just a few mouse clicks. If you're not certain how to go about it, you can check the video tutorial that is available inside the CP, read the detailed Help article on the subject, or you can simply contact us and we can help you 24/7, although it is unlikely that you will experience any problems as all it takes to set up a new CNAME record is to pick a domain/subdomain, type the hostname that you're pointing to, and save the change. The new record is going to be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records enables you to have better control over your domain addresses and site content and our system is simple and intuitive enough to allow people with no previous experience to create this sort of records easily.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Managing DNS records usually seems a challenging task to the people with less experience, but the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each semi-dedicated server we offer, is very simple to use. If you want to create a CNAME record for any purpose, all you have to do will be to choose the domain or subdomain that you need, select the type of record, which will be CNAME in this case, then input the value i.e. the domain address or subdomain you are forwarding to. The process is very easy and you can create the record in the DNS Records section of the CP. Within the hour the new record is going to be fully active and within a few hours it's going to propagate around the world. If you're not sure what you should do, we've prepared an in depth help article and a short video tutorial concerning how to go about creating a CNAME record and they're both located in that same section of Hepsia. Needless to say, you can also get in touch with us for assistance anytime.
